This is not a stack of shelves but a set of open boxes threaded off a single rounded column, each one stepping away from the last. Because the boxes are open front and back and only thirty five centimetres deep, it can stand between two spaces as a divider instead of being pushed flat against a wall. It rewards a room where the shelving is meant to be looked at, so it suits a hallway, a study, or the end of an open plan floor better than a crowded family room. Fill roughly half of it and leave the rest empty, and the stepped shape does the rest of the work.

Styling Tip: Alternate books and single objects between compartments so the offset pattern stays readable instead of filling in.
