The trend for “rounded shapes” – how to apply it in an ordinary interior
Rounded objects look so attractive in magazines. They write that this is one of the most fashionable interior trends and that this trend will remain with us for many years. But is such furniture really suitable for an ordinary apartment and life? Understanding!
Why rounded shapes are in fashion?
The new is the well-forgotten old: the trend for rounded shapes is experiencing a rebirth after the boom that happened in the late 60s and early 70s of the last century. Rounded shapes are associated with safety, therefore they are perceived more naturally and easier than orthogonal ones. Half a century ago, product designers experimented a lot with these silhouettes.
Some items created in the 60s have become classics in furniture design. An example in the photo is the Orange Slice chair by Pierre Paulin.
The second reason is the desire for everything natural: shapes, colors, natural materials, which are often not enough for residents of big cities. After the world has been in quarantine for two years, it is not surprising that everyone wants to feel safe and is drawn to nature.
